Depends how old it is. The older models used to be rust buckets, but newer ones (past 8 or so years, maybe a bit more) are much better.

I love Fiat and their engines. The engines tend to be high-reving and so you can get alot out of them. With 2nd hand one (as with most cars), check the history to ensure it hasn't been ragged!

In my opinion fiats are one of the most unreliable cars on the road apart from any french car that is. As for the coupe i was very dissapointed in the many that i drove and repaired. They are a nice looking car but have many many reliability problems from heads/headgaskets/brakes/suspe... and gearbox problems. And as they get older you will find most people not wanting to take on repairwork on them. So unless youve got plenty of cash for the high maintenance i wouldnt bother and i would just buy something japanese.

fiats are supposed to be ok to look at, but can be unreliable, and depreciate by about £5/ minute. They are cheap as chips for a reason, and like a previous person said, selling it on could be a nightmare cos who's gonna buy it?? Also the bodywork is flimsy and it wont protect you in the event of an accident. At the end of the day you get what you pay for! You're better off going for an more reliable car, ie VW Golf, Polo which will definitely protect you, hold its value, low maintenance and look good all at the same time! If you cant afford a new one 2nd hand ones still look great.
