What car to get for family and labrador!?

definately an estate...volvo, mondeo - then the dog can have his own section..! dont get a 4 x 4...you will pay through the nose for the tax and you'll get ripped of when you want a repair. estates are nice family cars!

Personally, I think either an estate or 4x4 would be a good choice. I'd personally go for a 4x4 because I think they are just that little bit cooler! When I was a child, I would have loved it if my mom had a 4x4. We only had a Metro :-)

Obviously it also comes down to what you can afford. Estates will probably be cheaper than 4x4s. You'll also want to do a test drive before you decide, as you need to make sure you are comfortable with the the height and size of a 4x4, or the length of an estate.

An estate car would seat the family, and allow space for a dog crate in the back. Thats safest in case of an accident. Its also more comfortable if your dog baths in mud on a walk! Plus you'll have space left for all the picnic gear but the dog won;'t be able to eat it before you get there, or lie on it on the way homw.

The Subaru Forester is a very reliable spacious car. It is like an estate in appearence but has the advantage of being 4x4 so it is good on rough ground. It would be plenty big enough for a family and dog too. (depending on how productive you have been of course!)
