That depends. If you don't own a vehicle, but you really want or need one, then it is a goal you need to fulfill to feel better, or live better, if you don't feel good about your situation. If a vehicle will contribute significantly to the quality of your life, then make it a point to get one. If you don't know how to feel about it, then don't worry about it, or what other people think of it for now. If you have access to a well connected and good public transportation (like the public transportation in NY, Washington DC, SF etc...) then i dont see a need for a car. Besides, the oil prices are kind of high right now, so I see public transportation as a cheap, effective alternative way to get around the city.
