Would insurance be raised if I added performance upgrade to a car?

What they dont know won't hurt them. But then what happens if you get in an accident you will get what your car would be normally worth WITHOUT the upgrades. So if you get in a wreck have the tow guy tow it to your house and take off the upgrades before the insurance comes to claim it. Also, after that , you might talk to the insurance and buy back the car if total wreck.
