wondering what kind of things may be on a carfax for a 2006 impala with 18K miles! the "free" report just says that there are 7 reports. I will get the complete carfax from the dealer but i was wondering if anyone has knowledge about this! what can the 7 reports possibly be on a car that is 1 year old!! are the reports on carfaxes always BAD!? thanks

What those generally are, are title transfers, registration, listing of when the vehicle was manufactured. I had 8 on my 2003 I bought from a dealer and listed something similar to the following.What is the best domestic car of the 80s and 90s?

Their more than likely not accidents. But let me tell you this, there are accidents and damage that wont appear on a carfax, such as ones where there was never a police report filed. My friend purchased a 98 Camry from the dealer. She took it back 4 months later because the front end was falling apart and they refused to fix it because it had "been in an accident" and was obvious (contrary to the carfax report). Some digging turned out to show that the accident occurred at another dealer while in their possession and they fixed it (it was in Toyota's records). So you can trust a carfax with your life.

Look under a vehicle to see if new parts have attached (generally cleaner/newer then the rest). Look for mismatched paint. Look inside the door frames (generally behind the rubber strip) to see if you see any paint lines from a repaint. Inspect the vehicle good.

Lets move on to the issue of a Rental Car. Rental cars are NOT cared for. When someone rents a car they dont think "I must be gentle and take care of this" no, they think "it's not my car, no need to respect it". Some do, but a lot don't. Keep that in mind.

a year old and it has 18000 miles! phew, well a carfax tells the history of a car, wrecks, insurance claims etc. I recommend instead of doing that take it to your mechananic and have them look it over to make sure its in good working condition.My mustang is almost 3 years and i bought it brand new, and it only has 19000 miles on it. So its got some high miliage. Most people only drive 12000 miles a year, so having it looked over is wise.

There are title transfers, a few trucks I looked at had maintenace records for factory recalls and then they also say if they are wrecked or had mileage fraud. I will tell you that I bought a wrecked car when it was wrecked and to this day it still shows a clean bill of health from carfax. I say that it's not worth buying it. Most dealers will give it to you for free just to give you peace of mind and they hope you'll buy the car from them.More Questions & Answers ...
