he co signed then came and paid the remaining 2 payments and then took the car and the title from the bank. his name was not on the title or vehicle registration. only co signed the loan. called us back and said we could have the car back if we paid him 200 more dollars than the loan had left that he paid off. car is now nowhere to be seen, police won't do anything stating it's a civil matter. what can i do to get my car and what can be done, i need help badly.

It is a civil matter! Take him to Court. You should be able to get his name from the loan institution.But, even if you win in Court, it will be left up to you to collect.The Court does not do the collecting of the rewards.You may have to hire a Collection Agency.So it may be cheaper to pay him and get your car before he takes claim of it.Another VIN check please people!?
