I had a Subaru Forester and loved it. The only thing I didn't like about it is that the back seats didn't have enough legroom for full-sized adults.

One thing I liked about it was that it has some unusual design elements. It has a flat, horizontally opposed engine like the old VW Beetle, it has a distributorless ignition, full time AWD (you have to pay extra for 4WD on the CR-V), outside air temp gauge, the biggest moonroof I ever saw, little storage bins everywhere, no external antenna and that's just for starters. It is terrific in the snow and ice. If I won the multi-million dollar lottery jackpot I would still drive a subaru forester, but I might still go and get a flashy convertible to drive on sunny days.
