If I buy a Nissan Infiniti, will I end up owning it forever?
if you maintenance them the same, and if you were using them for the same thing, yes. diesel has oil in the fuel. and that helps lubricate the motor in places motor oil would never get too. Also diesel burns hotter, so the motor is made with heavier duty parts.Subaru impreza wrx or chevrolet cobalt ss?

Half a million miles is nothing unusual on diesel motors. You can't get that on a gasoline engine even with diligent care.
Diesel truck last longer I believe without a lot of mant. I have had 4 Diesel trucks all that have well surpased the 300,000 mile mark without a whole lot of trouble. I have had to replace trannys but thats not too bad with that many miles on them. A 3/4 ton diesel without a trailer will get me 16-18 mpg and a 3/4 ton gas truck without a trailer got me 10-12 mpg. Yes Diesel is more expensive but the mpg will be a lot better and it avrages it out. I go with a diesel any day unless you drive short distances every day or often. I drive 100 plus miles a day.
