I started a company doing frelance technology consulting three years ago and got my billing up to 8k a month, where I can afford a new luxury car, (have owned BMW and Infinitis in the past).

which car is better for a fam of 3? BMW 335i COUPE OR AN ACURA MDX?

I think I am sensible enough that I am going to limit my budget to 18-20k. Any reccomendations based on that budget?

Honestly, NO-Car look into a Smaller SUV like a Santa Fe or an Escape. These smaller SUVS are going to get good gas mileage but at the same time if you have to take a client somewhere they will be ALOT more comfortable. Think about this in a Truck/SUV you are in a sitting position in a car you are sitting down but your legs are kinda flopped straight out and you have to squat and roll in and out.

A small SUV would provide something to drive clients (more than one) around in. It would have plenty of cargo capacity.

Is buying a hummer really that expensive?

It would also sit higher, as Keith mentioned. If you have not driven a car in a while, you will certainly miss the extra height and better road view afforded by a truck (even a compact like the ranger).

There are a lot of nice cars out there in the price range you are talking about. If it were me i would look into a Toyota Tacoma they get good mileage in the 25mpg range on the highway they look nice and are roomy. not to mention they seem to run forever with very few repairs. Otherwise i would probably go for a Ford Taurus or something along that line these Are comfortable cars a nice size and will get good
gas mileage. Plus you can pick up a Very nice used one for 10 to 13 thousand dollars. Good luck.
