What's the best cheap (around $3000) used car to buy?
AWD is always better in snow, whether it be on a car or suv. as it allows the cars computer to manage traction control with 4 wheels and not just 2. and of course AWD (4WD, 4X4) is safer, after all, safety was indeed the reason for the creation of AWD systems. Are you able to have more than 2 auto loans at the same time?
It's only as safe as the person behind the wheel. I see fwd cars off the road when it's snows. I also see SUVs off the road too,but there usually laying on there side or roof. Biggest thing slow DOWN. As far as cars going under an suv. Yeah they do and I have seen the car than proceed to flip the suv in the process.Best quality for the money, Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic or Chevy Cobalt?

Definetely, an all wheel drive SUV is safer and better. Remember none will help when it comes to braking on ice. With an awd you have a better chance at avoiding a bad situation. A larger frame and more metal to shield you does help in case of a crash. Also a light weight fwd is not good on slippery inclines and has less clearance in snow.Has anyone tried selling their car back to the dealer, after receiving a buy back letter?
In snow and ice conditions an AWD car or SUV will be better than a FWD car or suv any day! That does not mean u cant drive a FWD car in snow it just means that an AWD will be ALOT easier and less of a hassle.I live in calgary canada and it snows frequently and plus i go to the mountains, for the city i have an Acura rsx (FWD car) with snow tires and honestly ive never had a problem driving it in the snow you just have to be careful!
Also i have an ML320 (SUV AWD) which i drive to the mountains, but then again my buddy has a chevy cavalier with winter tires and he keeps up with me in the mountains just fine.
Is it better to own or to lease a car. If planing to be changing vehicles every yr?
The real diffrence between AWD and FWD is that when accelerating or taking a corner the AWD helps tremendously but when braking both the RSX and ML320 will work just fine as long as you have winter tires and ABS. IF u dont have winter tires it doesnt matter if u have AWD or not , your gonna be in trouble.
Car salesman bait and switch.please help!?
In my opinion if you live in a city where you have sporadic snow or very little snow and the temperature is usually above -3 degree celsius then an AWD car or FWD car (all subaru have AWD many auto manufactures offer AWD as an option for their cars) will do just fine.
Are used car salesman the scum of the universe?
if you get regular snow with temperature usually below -3degree Celsius then definetly an AWD car will save you headaches and plus give you better gas mileage and not to mention alot more fun to drive on the warm days when the snow melts compared to an AWD SUV.
What car(not mini van) will fit 3 car seats in back?
But if you plan on hitting the mountains and going to places with more than a foot of snow definitely the ground clearance of an SUV will help or that of a subaru outback or an Audi allroad quattro.
Im car shopping and want to know how reliable the mada6(2003-2006) is.?
But if you want to be on the safe side get AWD drive car or even AWD SUV. Besides most roads are clean and if you live in a city you usually dont have to worry about ground clearance atleast i havent had an problems with my rsx ..oh And w/e u get please get WINTER TIRES!
Where can I buy a Rock truck 35-tons in good condition? for a reasonable price? please help!?
As for safety depends on the manufacturer with air bags, crumple zones, traction control, ABS etc.. and just because you drive an SUV DOES NOT MEAN ITS SAFER! people think and feel its safer because its big and tall n etc.. but it depends on the build and materials used.
personally my next vehicle will be an AWD car, excellent MPG, fast and nimble (subaru WRX or BMW X-drive.. sorry STI is too hardcore for mee)
Police crown victoria vs geo metro?
AWD is better than FWD at starting and turning in the snow. However, there are other things to consider such as stopping, the weight of the vehicle and the tires in use.Which auto company will most likely grant a loan or lease after bankruptcy ?
I personally would take a FWD car with true snow tires over an AWD SUV due to the lower mass/inertia.
I nedd a car that fits my budget!?
Best bet is a AWD with proper winter/snow tires. Its hard to beat a subaru.
The only time I'd take an AWD/4wd SUV over a AWD car is if the snow was too deep to drive the car in.
