Monthly travel would be 1500-2000 kms (plains) and an occasional trip to Hilly areas. The budget of 1 Lac includes all fitting charges and the LPG kit. Currently residing in Chandigarh with twice a month visit to Shimla. The daily travel would be in Haryana. So basicaly looking at style and low running cost.

Looking at your requirements I will not at all suggest you a gas vehicle. Not even a gypsy. Bcoz on the hills you will be needing more torque to negotiate hilly terrain not to mention the ghats. Moreover looking at your tight budget, you would not be able to find such a gypsy which is gonna be a looker not to mention the goer. If you really like the shape of the gypsy, I would suggest you to get 'any' gypsy (provided the bodtwork is good) and get a diesel heart (i like the toyota DI engine) and plonk it in the gypsy's engine bay. No doubt your budget will jolly well exceed the lac otherwise results will not be satisfactory.
I moreover suggest you to gather a wee bit more dough and get yourself a competent Mahindra 4x4 (small wheelbase) or a second hand Tata Safari. They are quite good offroaders. Especially the jeep.
