Question:
I bought a vehicle 4mos ago from a small car dealer, on the sales agreement and the cars odometer - it read 131k, last week I did a VIN ck on the car, and it came back in Jan,06 it had 187k -so the odometer has been rolled back, not to mention that the car lot has not produced me a title yet! Should I file a civil lawsuit, or have a detective bring up charges? What would happen either way?

HOW WOULD YOU GO ABOUT THE PROCEDUREs of BUYING a new car.?
You should have done a Vin check first, but that's OK, you know now to check them. Depending on the car, that's still not a lot of miles. But anyhow. Yes, call a lawyer and ask their advice on how to proceed. You should file a lawsuit. The carlot lied to you and has not yet issued a title. I'd definitely file suit on that. Best thing I advise is call your lawyer and ask their advice. Good luck!
getting atag 4 my new vue need ideas 4 personal tag?
Contact a lawyer. Best you can hope for is to get your money back.Without a title, you really don't own that car. If the person you bought it from was not the legal owner, then your bill of sale doesn't do anything for you.
Tahoe or Yukon?I'm wanting to buy a SUV, in the next year or so, Which one is better and Why?
As for the odometer reading, you can put the dealer out of business if it can be proved THEY did it. That would require the previous owner and you getting together and saying.... this is whats going on. Considering that every time a title is transfered, an odometer statement is made with it, it would not be hard to prove tampering.... if such a thing occured.
Should I buy a 2004 Toyota Camry with 87,000 miles?
Report it to the requaltory agency in your area. Also talk with the local authorities to find out what your options are.can anyone help me get rid of my vehicle?
If you just bought the car can take a few more weeks to get the title to you. They should have it to you before your "temporary tag" runs out. After you get the title. you should report this to the State motor vehicle commission for your state. Against federal laws big time to tamper with an odometer. As long as they didn't check the little box near the mileage stating that "this mileage is not the correct mileage" then you would have a case. I would not mention this to them though before you get the title as you want all the paperwork to document this. Very possible that the car lot didn't roll it back, but bought it from an auction or other dealer that did. Of the car had a replacement speedometer in it that wasn't reported on the paperwork. Either way though you have a good case and they can get in serious trouble if they don't disclose this to you. When the title comes in make sure that they don't call you in to the office to "sign some more forms" or sign a receipt for the title, etc. without reading it completely and "understanding" it as often a car lot will attempt to "correct" their mistakes by shoving papers to you to sign so that you put your signature on papers saying that you were "well aware" that the mileage is not right.where can i get 13w7 for under $600?
get a free consult from a lawyer in the phone book. Or simply file in small claims for the amount of the car. Either way they tried to screw you and that's not fair!!More Questions & Answers ...
