How do we sell a truck safely? We've never done a for sale by owner and have always traded in.

Clean it up, change the oil, and make it smell nice inside. When you sell the truck, make sure you give a Bill of Sell and state that it is "Sold As Is, Where Is", and have the purchaser sign two(2) copies of the Bill of Sell. You keep one and one goes with the new owner, along with the title, which by the way, you need to fill out the back side of and sign. Some states require the title owner to send in the bottom half of the title to the states DMV with the milage and date and price paid for the vehicle.

Whatever you do, don't give the buyer the keys and title UNTIL the check clears. Never finance a buyer (take payments). You'll get screwed if you do.
