Had a quick look at the other answers before putting in my two pennyworth. If you are going to buy new then why would you need to take a mechanic with you. If there is anything wrong with it then it would not be there for sale. As for the 2.8 litre being a pig I don't agree with that. It all depends on what you want to do with it. I have a 2.8 litre Fiat Lunar with a towbar fitted to it and I tow my small car (a ford focus) behind it with no trouble at all although there are some of the more meaty types of hills and long drawn out ones that do slow it down a little but not to the extreme. I guess you could go for one with a bigger engine but for a maximum of £30,000 you are going to find it difficult to get a new one. My Lunar is 22ft long, 6berth, shower/toilet, oven hob and sink, fridge freezer, two double beds and two singles, a bike rack, alarm, underfloor safe, satnav and a reversing camera although the last two were extras and brand new, two years ago that cost me £33,000 including the extras. Hope this helps and good luck on the road. There are many dealers out there. Just make sure you take a qualified mechanic, with you when you go to view. Unless you are a mechanic yourself.
How do I find out about taxes in P.R when shipping a car there?
A 2.8 engine? It's going to be a pig! Think about a diesel, they get the best mileage :)Do you realise that to hire a motorhome out for your holidays is the cheapest option.
Why pay 20k-30k & then tax, insure, maintain & take the depreciation when selling. Work out how many days a year you will use it and divide by the cost of buying it and it will scare you.
I know.....
what type of van is the a team van ,i cant find out any where ,can anyone help?
Cant give you any advice on the layout as i am sure that you will already have a fair idea of what you need. I bought a Hobby caravan 2 years ago in Germany direct from the dealer. It was a massive saving in terms of what was available in the UK, even taking the travel costs into account, i still saved approximately £4000 on a £13000 caravan. Whilst at the dealer, i saw that he was the agent for KNAUS motorhomes and caravans. Just out of curiosity, i enquired about 1 of the 5 berth coach built models. When i calculated the duty at 17.5% to personally import it to the UK, it worked out at£29,000, thats back in the UK and registered. The same motorhome in the UK was retailing at £37000. The only difference that i could see was that this 1 was left hand drive. I decided against it at this time but when i do decide to buy a motorhome, i will definitely have this as an option. The quality of the Knaus was excellent. My transaction was simple as the dealer 'Joeressen' based outside Munchen Gladbach was easy to speak to and easy to get to. He arranged everything. Dont be put off. Have you driven the new Ford Transit yet? Its a superb going commercial and it should be well up to the job of being a motorhome. Ive also seen the new Hobby range of motorhomes at a dealer nearby to us. They are very stylish. If they are anything built like the caravan, then they should be tops also. Good luck. Its a nice position to be in when you are spoiled for choice.More Questions & Answers ...
