How much can i sell the number plate for?

my ford xr3i car has just been smashed up my a bunch of youths and since i cannot afford to pay the insurance after its fixed i decided to just scrap it, the other day someone told me the number plate might be worth something its ST87 MGT, does anyone know anything about selling them or what it might be worth? thanks x x x

you cant just sell them its illegal if you are in the uk then contact the dvla and they can help you sell the number plate at an auction i dont think it will be worth anything

Well I am not sure where you are from, BUT here in the USA number plates or registration plates are the property of the Registry of Motor vehicles. Or the state. So you canNOT sell them, as you do not own them. Even if you have a vanity plate, (one that has a name or saying on it) The plate is still the property of the Registry. As such it cannot be sold.
