Question:
We have a 1998 model that has been registered in 3 different states. The state that we live in now says that we never produced a title and has put "non transferable" on our registration. And although we bought the car outright when it was new, we don't know where the title is. I'm sure where must have had it at one time, but it may have gotten accidentally thrown out when we moved. Is there any way to get a copy? Where would you search for such a thing?

Write a letter to the DMV in each of the states where you lived, requesting it, the one that has it will send it to you. You should be able to find the addresses online, at the states sites. Send them by registered mail.
