The Fusion is a very competitive car, especially in 4 cylinder versions. They are usually a good deal cheaper than all but the Hyundai Sonata. The ride and handling are good, and the motor is not Honda smooth, but is still peppy enough for most people. The 6 cylinder versions give up too much power and overall refinement to Honda, Nissan, Toyota and VW. AWD is available, but the Volvo system it is based on is not very reliable. It also adds weight and mechanical complexity. Initial reliability has been good (not a lot of AWD's out there yet).Does Lexus IS 250 sell at MSRP? I see the Invoice price is much lower?
The Edge has not tested as well as Ford would have liked (last place in a 4 SUV comparo vs Highlander, Murano and Sante Fe). It is heavy, and fuel economy suffers. Overall refinement is not great, and being all new, it would be wise to stay away for a model year or two and let them work out the kinks. There have been gripes about fit and finish and hard interior plastics. Chances are depreciation will be on the high side, and reliability is as of yet unknown.
The Fusion would be a good choice if you are shopping for price and features. The only real downside is depreciation is fairly steep. I would give the Edge a few years, but as it trails the competition now, things do not look good for it. Toyota will have a new Highlander, and Nissan should put out a new Murano. They both already tested better, and the redesigned should be even better.
