Some states have a 15-day / 500 mile implied warranty on used cars, so it sounds like you were just out of that. Lemon Laws are for new car purchases so it wouldn't apply to your used car purchase. Did you purchase from a dealer or private party? If it was from a dealer I would contact them and see if they will do anything...even if it is to make a deal on the price of the repairs. Is it out of the powertrain warranty (that is what would cover the transmission)? If it is a private party, unfortunately used cars are sold 'as is.'Is anyne know someone who is selling a chevy el camino that still runs?
most used cars are sold as is.only if u negotiated a warranty or guarantee from the seller. usually a reputable car dealer will have at least 30 days. but chances are someone dumped their problems on u.good luck
Any suggestions for a first car that's affordable and safe for a 16 year old?
From private party? Think you're on your own.what does milage mean and why do i have to check out milage when buying a car?
check your local laws but most of the time when you buy from a private individual, your S.O.L.Sorry I can't think of anyone that does not sell (AS IS) when they sell a car not even a dealer. Had it been the same day may be. This is called buyer's remorse.
Most states have what is called a "Lemon Law." Look up the lemon law and what the stipulations for your state are. 17 days into a car purchase should be short enough to be able to return it and get a refund.
I bet they are going to tell you it was "as is". There is a Lemon Law, but for some reason I'm thinking that is only for new cars. Have you thought about asking a lawyer, he would know the laws in your state. Good luck.
are there anyone who has a motor home, van, pickup truck with a camper shell that they would donate!?
i own a repair shop, and no,,there is no protection against used cars,, there usually sold as is,and there's no warranty on them at all unless you pay for one,,basically you are stuck with it,unless it came from a car lot,and they agree to help you repair it,,other wise ,just get ready to have it repaired,it happens to all of us at one time or another,i have had my fair share of lemons, and im sure i,ll get a few more sometime,,but just have it fixed ,and drive it,,that's all you can do ,,good luck,i hope this help,s..have a good x-mas.I co sign for a freind who was going to be my roomate i was vey naive?
BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!! DID YOU TAKE IT FOR A TEST DRIVE BEFORE U BOUGHT IT? IF SO YOU SHOULD HAVE NOTICE A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION.UNLESS THERE WERE SOME KIND OF WRITTEN AGREEMENT I THINK THERE IS A VERY SLIM CHANCE OF GETTING YOUR MONEY BACK.
