Depending on your lifestyle, this may actually be more expensive (and is definitely more important) than a house or car choice. Many people don't usually think about it, but college. Yes, higher education. Though the cost is accrued over time, it is a very expensive decision. By using what I've been paying at Clemson University over the last 4 years, let's look at this. I've paid over $50,000 for my college education so far (tuition, books, housing, meal plans, etc.). That's a lot of money - and I still have another year, lol! And, that assumes that I pay everything in cash (which, I assure you, I do not). If you factor in interest on the loans you take out, the amount exponentially grows. Going to a private institution? You'll pay close to double or at least 50% more than at a public university.
