Longevity should be pretty much the same. The Matrix/Vibe (barring incentives, prices on these are comparable, in fact the Vibe has a higher base price than the Matrix) is a Corolla, and the xA is a descendant of the Tercel (on the Echo platform).

The Matrix isn't quite as economy-oriented as the xA, but it has more cargo space. Also the xA (in the US) doesn't have available AWD.
