I bought the lein on a car and have receipt, i should be able to take full ownership? Right??

Question:
The car was repoed from a person trying to buy but failed to make the payment to the orignal lein holder. I wanted the car and purchased from the lein holder his lein and now I am the lein holder. The man the car was repo from is now harrashing me saying I purchased "magic beans" or basically I am legally not going to ever own the car in question? If anyone has any info, passed experences, of advice please help me reslove this problem.
