Question:
should I accept the car with a new clutch or should I demand under the sale of goods act a replacement car? Is the clutch the 1st of many problems that I can expect with the car I purchased? Or was I just unlucky? Would the better option be to demand a new car?

A clutch is considered a wear item like your brakes...they are expected to go out duing the life of the car. The problem with buying a used car is that certain items cannot be inspected. You can't tell if a car is going to blow a head gasket or a rod when you buy it used. If you purchased it from a reputable dealer and they didn't hassle you too much about fixing the clutch then I'd say you should be alright. Ask them if something major goes wrong in the near future, and is no longer under warranty, see if they will be willing to split the cost of the repair with you, if not and you are not comfortable with the vehicle anymore then I'd say go with the different car option.A small car, small truck/SUV, big car, or a big truck/SUV for a beginner driver and what model/year?
keep the car. change the clutch. he wont giv u a new car. the sales of goods act does not apply for cars the same as other products. a car is supposed to be maintained and expected to fail periodically.I am buying a new car & need advice?
the owner before you must have sucked at driving stickThey say that Toyota's cars last the longest, is this true?
Oh dear yet another dodgy car dealer!..unfortunaley you are best to go with the new clutch option as they dont have to replace the car..they seem to have the law more on there side still ,I bought an auto vw that had a dodgy clutch and after a month of false and failed repairs got no where so just make sure when they say it is fixed that its fixed! ...mine wasnt! (and it was at the garage for 4 weeks)Good luck ,get it fixed, insist on a new clutch not a reconditioned one, get proof that its been done and then sell it before it causes you any more stress (you probably will hate the sight of the thing before you're done!)
What is the price or value of a 1969 chevy restored pickup?
buyer be wareAs the warranty covers it, I would get it replaced under that.
It shouldn't lead to other problems, just indicates that the previous owner was a bit ham-fisted (or footed!).
Do you think bmw are better than mercedes?
Ask to keep the old clutch. This will prove it has been changed.
Should I get a vehicle history report when I purchase a new or used vehicle from a dealer?
keep the car they wont let u send it back- it was probably a rep mobile/rental/courtesy car, hence the clutch being ballsedclutch wear is entirely determined by the person who drove it. The previous owner (or you) must have had poor clutch control. There's no legal reason to reject the car if it's being repaired free of charge.
