Will Carmax reduce their prices at all, or is it what you see if what you get?
The best way to deal with new cars is to walk into a few dealers and say flat out:" this is what I want for a monthly payment xxx"talk to me, what do I need down and (if you have one) what do I get for a trade in.
In the end - what you pay per month will determine what you have left for other things - like gas , insurance, tires, oil and FOOD.
I have annoyed many a dealer by saying I want 200 a month and this is my trade in. What can we do. I don not care if the loan is 5 or 6 years. 1//2 the time the saleperson walks away and never comes back. Sometimes they give me numbers. NEVER tell them how much money you have in reserve to put down. Just give them a rough number. Say well I may have 800 in cash or 1000.
If they want to sell this puts you in a better position to walk if you feel they are running you. Alway be willing to walk away and infact I walked 3 times for a dealer on a Ranger PU until he came within 15 dollars of what I was willing to pay. Knowing what other dealers will sell for is important - fake number are a waste of time for all parties. CARL
is it better to own a new car or be a mechanic?
In my opinion put down as little as possible $ 0-500, after your purchase then you can pay larger amounts on your loan and pay it off quicker. A big scam for car dealers is that they get you to put money down and the dealership keep it and you still pay big for your loan. keep the financing separate from the price negotiated for your car. used is much better than new due to appreciation look at carmax.com great deals and great cars. i bought 4 from them, i would never buy again from a traditional dealer, they rip you off to much.Does any one know where I can get the best price for a used truck or jeep?
I'm a big fan of getting a car that's a couple years old with maybe 20k miles on it. You really save alot of money. Unless you can write off the vehicle for business, or really have to have the latest and greatest in cars, go with used. But it's tough when you see a new body style that's awesome.Put down enough to keep your payments affordable, and so you owe much less than the worth of the car. It's sad when people put little or nothing down, then need to sell the car in a couple years and owe more than the car is worth.
anyone have an old camper they want to give away?
Best advice is get a car that has very few miles. Like a program car that was used by a dealership. It has been proven that when you buy a new car and drive it off the lot it decreases in value 5,000 dollars. So like I said get a car with low miles and get an extended warranty or get a car with a good warranty (helps when you don't have the money to fix those unexpected breakdowns). At the most if you have good credit the most amount is the best, but minimum I would put 3,000 considering credit history and price of a car. Hint Toyota is 1# ranking. Try a corolla. Good luck.More Questions & Answers ...
