Do some research. They are some hybrid cars around that use common petrol/diesel and electric.There are plenty of combinations out there - LPG, Fuel Cell (in development) solar power, battery (electric), just Google it.
there are no eco friendly cars, they all pollute so I would not worry, just buy a car, secondhand would be best as no new pollution caused by the building. Your pollution form the use is infinitesimal compared with the build pollution.
