CR-V.... because I own a '98 and it hasn't given me a single problem in 9 years.get a kia optima. i have one its a 2003 and in uses very little gas i go to school and come back with ten dollars a week or every four days. in my opinion they are nice looking too.
Forget that list!! You cant beat a Honda crx del sol / vti. Most ppl dont even know what they look like! You wount be dissapointed!

All of these vehicles are fairly sound choices. In my personal opinion, I'd go for the Subaru, since it comes standard with All-Wheel Drive (I live near the Canadian border, and get lots of snow and ice in the winter months, so this may somewhat explain my bias). Also, I'd like to point out that the Subaru Legacy and Outback are the same vehicle, just with different options. They use the same body, suspension, engine, and interior. The Outback comes with a better All-Wheel Drive system and raised ground clearance, plus slightly more aggressive tires. If you choose the wagon version, it has about the same cargo capacity as the Honda CR-V anyway, and the Outback will match a CR-V off-road anyday. Lastly, the Subarus, at least according to Consumer Reports, have been every bit as reliable as the Hondas and the Toyota, and in some cases even more so. Since Subaru seems to have mastered the All-Wheel Drive system, there's practically no drop in gas mileage over the other vehicles listed, and it's probably better than the Honda CR-V's. About the only disadvantages are that the Subaru Outback is the priciest car in this group, but seems worth the money, and there's no hybrid powertrain option like with the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

On the other hand, if you live in a much more southernly climate or out west, then I'd say the Toyota Camry, since you wouldn't need the All-Wheel Drive. Plus, you could use any money you (or your parents) might save as opposed to buying one of the Subarus to put towards your schooling.

None of the above. Get a Mercury Milan-highest ratings in quality and priced reasonably.Subaru's have come a long way since they first arrived on these shores (USA). Back then, they were VERY small and had two stroke engines and they were not a hit. They have a ways to go to catch up to Toyotas and Honda's, so my opinion is to put them at the bottom of the list.

Sure, you are going to hear from people who swear by them, but the resale value is much less than the others.
