Question:
For example, if I buy a 2000 Toyota Corolla with 75,000 miles on it, should I expect to get 100 more miles, 50 more miles, etc.? How would this compare to a Honda Civic and so on. I'm assuming, just for the question, that a car has the expected miles for its year and has been serviced in the average ways. Thanks for any help or resource.
Answers:
I need a good used reliable car for under 6000. any suggestions?
They're not "supposed" to last 1,000,000 miles. The answer to your question depends on when you consider a car to be "done". It will last forever if you're willing to keep putting parts into it. At about 100k or even a little sooner, you can expect things to start going wrong with any car. AC compressors, alternators, timing belts, water pumps, fuel pumps, transmissions, suspension.you name it. Toyota makes a really good car, though. So does Honda. If maintained properly you can expect the engine block to last for 250K miles, I'd guess. The other repairs are what will get you.
All cars are expected to last until 1,000,000 miles... but many fail to reach it due to abuse, accidents, non maintenance, defects, rust, etc.
Just take care of it and get maintainence done right the first time and it will last you longer than you need or expect it to
