My mom used to work for Avis. If you reserve a small or compact car during a really busy time, most times they are out and will upgrade you for free. Every car I've driven with them has been awesome, no troubles. And also, before you sign up with the insurance crap they try to get you with, check with your insurance company, and also the credit card company that you use to secure the car, they might insure it automatically. Skip the companies like Enterprise, Avis, and Hertz. With them you are paying a premium for the name. See if there are any independent car rental companies in your area. usually they charge a little less. Also, if you must use a national chain, check multiple locations for pricing. Locations at or near airports are usually way higher than those farther away from airports.
