Would you buy this Jetta for 400.00?

Question:
My girlfriend is trading her 1997 VW Jetta GL that runs pretty good for a 2005 Jetta they only offered her 400.00 dollars for a trade in value on the vehicle because the body has some bumps and scrapes on it and it has 138,000 miles on it. My question is should I buy this car for 400.00 and either use it for a spare car or sell it and make a profit. Looking for feedback on these cars I don't know much about them and what they are worth.
