I jsut got a car today adn the dealer tried to sell me a warranty for my 2002 suzuki aerio. I've heard some people say they are stupid to buy and just something else to sell ya, and i've heard that they were good. I'm torn on what to do.

Buying an extended warranty is like handing $2000 to the mechanic and saying "Here, hold this money in case my car needs fixing but if it doesn't, you can keep the money!" How dumb is that????Whats the best car around today?
It's better to keep the $2000 in a savings account incurring interest, then if nothing happens, you can keep the money!
The chances of having a castastrophic failue resulting in $2000 in damages is slim and none, especially in the first 100k miles. Now if the warranty covered the 2nd 100k miles, it may be worth it since lots go wrong but they won't cover do that because they know cars break down far often then, which would eat in to their profits.
what you need to do is go to kelly blue book or call abank and ask what the value of your car is, if it is totaled out and price is worth more than your deductable, i know this forsure work at an insurance company, you wouldnt want to buy a warranty, just buy plpd insurance, covers other cars not yours. but withit being 5 yrs old maybe check into warranty

I just bought a Grand Cherokee and purchased a $2000 warranty and I am very happy I get roadside assistance and everything down to heaters and eventhe heated seats covered I think the only think not covered is the paint.
