when buying a car from of the street what should i look for in the car and what questions should i ask the seller?

Is it better to guess high or low...?

ask the seller if they have done any repairs for the car and to show proof
check under car and the engine, drive test the car after that check under car for any leaks or if you smell any burns, i sugguest you to check carfax.com
to see if there were some accidents with the car, also ask how many people have own the car multilply drivers are not the same. better if you buy a car from a used auto dealer wich they have warranty up to 90 days. good luck

With your lack of knowledge, you would be better off going to a new car dealer and getting a certified used car. There is too much junk on the street that looks nice. A novice will get burned.
