I'm 16, and I'll be buying my first car shortly, and I want to go w/ either a Sunfire or Cavalier. Which one?

Question:
I'm 16, male. I want a sporty 2Dr Coupe design. I want this car to last me probably three to four years. So I want something around a '98 or later, with low miles, nothing about 100k. I just want your advice on what to buy. Thanks!

I have 20,000 points. How do I cash them in on a new car?

First off, its the same car just with different badges. Same engine, same transmission, same dashboard, same seats, the only differences, some had Chevrolet logos, and some had Pontiac logos. Secondly, these were made to be a disposible car. They were made to last about a 150 000km and then die, thats not to say some wont live longer, I have seen some push 400 000km before kickign the bucket. I don't see many come into the shop with over 120 000km without a major problem. The 2.2L, the 2.2L Ecotec and 2.4L engines all were the same basic design, and they all had major problems with the head gaskets, well, gaskets in general. They leak a lot. Cooling issues are also very common as well. I would personally stay away from these cars myself, but I am a Ford, and a truck guy, so I have no right to tell you what to buy. I'm just saying from experiance on these vehicles, I see them in the shop all the time and almost every time its a different problem, or a varity of problems, biggest ones being leaks and overheating issues. I know this wont be for all of them made. I would look for one that has very low km's on it, and go from there. I would even look at a Colbalt, it was what GM used to replace the Cavalier/Sunfire. Thier good cars if they are maintained with whatever it needs at the time it needs it, and that can get quite pricy in the long run.

Selling my car?

Side note. I would look for a foxbody Mustang fromt he 80's and early 90's. With the 5L in them, they are next to unstopable. But then again, I'm a big engine kind of guy.

Does anyone know of a good cheap auto for under $1000?

I am going to buy a new Hyundai Santa Fe sticker 24K-pay cash-how much will I have to pay (Discount?)?

both pretty much the same , get it checked by a mechanic first and get a Haynes manual for it , have fun , be safe

Is there a website that helps me chose which car to buy?

They are identical cars other than some minor differences in the grill and tail light assembly. Personally, I think the sunfire is the sportier looking of the two. If you can, I would have to suggest going with an import if you want something that old like a honda, nissan or toyota. Anyway, I hope this helps and good luck.

***Need answer TONIGHT*** Is $3000 a good price for a 1990 Nissan Maxima with 200,000 miles?

The Sunfire and the Cavilier are basically the same car just one is a pontiac and the other is a chevy. They both use to be built at the same plant in Lordstown, OH. about 2 hors from me.

Does buying a car with a salvage title always mean trouble?

Gag, both are just different versions of ugly. Buy a Honda or a Toyota. If you want long life and some sort of resale value avoid GM, Ford, and Chrysler.

What does 'Al Salvage Title' mean on a car?

I've owned both and they are excellent little cars for running around in. Go Cavalier just because they look better.
