So I need a great, smooth riding car that I can rack up the miles on and have it stay reliable (and hold its value). Would prefer one that could also handle the snow decently. Any ideas?

I know that Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen all offer diesel-powered midsize cars in the United States. Look for the Mercedes-Benz E320 CDI and Volkswagen Passat TDI. If you're willing to look for a slightly older car, Audi and BMW also offered diesels in the 1990s.

ummm honda or acura... they can go well over 250,000 miles with regular maintenance.. thats there reputation.. i drive a 93 civic ex with 210,000 on it.. runs beautifully
