Question:
that was involved in a bankruptcy? The bank doesn't want the car back, & can't accept a payment, however, they won't issue a lien release either (I've called them, repeatedly.). When I bought the car (from a family member) NY DMV was happy to transfer the title-with the lien still on it to me, once I explained the situation. The problem is, I now want to get rid of the car, but potential buyers won't like the idea of buying a car with a 'dirty' title. Any ideas?
Answers:
unfortunately, there isn'y much you can do. don't buy a car with a bad title in the future.
What are the full details that one get from the carfax?
There has to be some way to pay the Lien off to clear the Title. Call your DMV and ask them what you can do.Cheap, Light, less than 1100cc?
I believe the only way to fix this is to pay off the lien. It was a mistake to EVER assume a lien on a vehicle unless you intended on paying it off. Essentially, that's what you did... assume the lien. Maybe you should contact an attorney, but that could cost more than paying off the lien!Good luck.
