Does anyone know how to become an "online used car dealer"?
I sold our boat on ebay and then a few months later we bought another one on ebay. Both transactions were surprisingly smooth. DO YOUR RESEARCH though. I researched each person I was considering buying from. When we were selling though, it was a different scenario. You don't get to choose your winning bidder obviously. Just hope it's a good guy. Ask for a sizeable downpayment through paypal so you'll know the buyer means business. Anything over $500 is substantial. Make the downpayment due within 48 hours of auction end. Exchange numbers and addresses after it ends so you can work out the details. Make sure if he's paying with a bank check or money order that it has a watermark. There are plenty of fraudulent money order scams going on so research his bank. Ask him what bank the check will come from. If it's a money order, I'm not sure I would trade title for money order. You might want to make sure it clears first or at least let someone at your bank have a look at it to be sure it's authentic. Good luck with your sale!
