Me and my husband are trying to sell our car and I listed it on myspace and one of the responses I received is from this 40something yr old guys in Arkansas I think and the car's broke down and we're asking $600-$800 for it. I told this guy we will only accept cash on pick up. And he replied to me saying to send my name address and phone number and he will mail a cashier's check and once it clears his "shipper" will come and pick it up? Is it me or does this sound like a scam? What would some guy that far away want with a cheap car that needs fixed and be willing to pay someone to come pick it up and the cashier's check??

He will send you more than the asking price. When the 'shipper' shows up, you will be told to give him the extra since that will be his cost for shipping. You give him the excess cash, and your car goes away.Do I need a license to buy a car?
Weeks from now your bank will inform you the "cashier's check" is a forgery, and they will want back the entire amount they gave you when you cashed it.

This is a scam, happens a lot.Also you'll get the one where thay want to send you to much money, and you send them back the difference.

Just 3 days ago after a week and a half of negotiations with a seemingly intelligent woman, I received an overnight "cashiers check" and was told to give the remaining money to her son when he came to pick up the car. I confirmed with the "issuing" bank before I deposited it into my bank that it was counterfeit.Long story, but don't fall for it. Find someone local and VERIFY the check before handing ANYTHING over to them. Good Luck.
