Question:
i saw a eagle talon tsi awd for sale. its miles is reading 111,XXX . and it is priced for $4000. is that a good deal? what might i have to check on these cars?
Answers:
Why do Honda and Toyota have high resale values?
They're not a bad car, but parts are expensive, especially for the TSi (all the parts come from Mitsubishi - it's basically an Eclipse.) Unfortunately, almost all of them have been abused in the past - kids tended to buy them, but not maintain the properly. That mileage is also a little high for one of these engines.First, check that the valves aren't bent - there is no rev limiter on these engines, and they are an interference engine. also, make sure the timing belt has been changed on time - if it breaks, you'll need a new engine, as the valves will hit the pistons. You can almost guarantee that the shocks are dead, so expect to replace them. Electrical switches are also a weak point - and pretty expensive. Watch for oil leaks, especially from the rear drive unit - parts and gaskets can be hard to find. look for damage to the underbody, as these cars are pretty low-slung. Paint (especially the roof) tends to oxidize quickly. Clutches also tend to burn out quickly, especially on the AWD models. Gearboxes have weak synchro that wears out fast, especially on 3rd gear (5-speed box.) Cam followers also seem to be a weak point. (My gearbox and cam followers all had to be changed at 34,000 miles - thank God for the factory warranty!)
I want to buy a new car? please help!!?
I had one for a few years (only FWD) - lots of fun, but a bit of a money pit.
How do I get a car registered which has no papers/plates and has sat for years?
