hey ive just put a deposit on a new vehicle and am trading in my old one as part exchange. theyve valued my old one and asked if i had full service history to which i said yes as ive always had it serviced regularly etc. Your going to think im an idiot but ive only ever owned one vehicle previously from new so i didnt appreciate that you were supposed to have your booked stamped for every service you had and no one at the dealership has every mentioned this!! cars 7 years old only done 50,000 miles and i have copies of the receipts for the each years service and they havent exactly given me top wack trade in so i presume if i take these along it will be ok? just a bit concerned but i presume if it was a major valuation factor theyd have asked to see the log book. didnt know if i should mention it lol feel a prat now but as i say i didnt know!!

The dealer is questioning if you had the maintenance done by a dealer per the owners manual. It is not necessary to have maintenance done by a dealer. If you want to keep a car properly maintained you should just perform maintenance at the intervals suggested by the factory in the owners manual. If you have receipts to show you have done the proper timely maintenance they should not be deducting any $ from your car at trade-in based on a lack of maintenance!How much does it cost to put a car on ebay?
there not going to check up on thisAt that age it should not matter. Every time my car is serviced they have failed to stamp the book, I always leave it on the seat. I then take it in myself and the receptionist stamps it, they all seem to have stamps. What is your question anyway.

When I bought my used car I checked for the full service history. The owners showed me the service book, and all the paperwork they'd got from privately run garages (for which the service book couldn't have been stamped).If you still have the receipts from the dealership service I would take them to that dealer and see if the can stamp the service book for you. They will probably have your car on their system anyway to verify this.
full service history :- means details of all services, M.O.T's and all other work done on your car. You should have receipts detailing all works done on your vehicle, it helps the future owner to assess the condition of the car and to check its previous history. Yoy will never get a top whack offer from a dealer in a part exchange deal because the 'book price' is the price they will SELL it at, and not what they will give you for it, they need to make a profit and cover for warranties etc..

I don't think this is something to worry about but if it becomes an issue then you can all ways take the service book back to where you had the car serviced and get them to stamp the book up to date as you have all receipts and if they are a dealer they will have it on record .Whats the price range on a 91 Camry DX?
Keep hold of those invoices. They are just as good, if not better than a service book as they have more detail of the work carried out.More Questions & Answers ...
