I've never owned a car. Would it be a good idea to get one?

Question:
I have a valid driver's license, and no problem driving moving vans etc. when necessary. But I am able to commute to work by bicycle and bus. On the other hand, it would be nice to be able to take my family out of town occasionally, and shopping might be easier with a car. Plus, my son wants to get his license soon (he is now 15). However, money is a huge issue - I can't imagine being able to afford to operate a car, let alone lease or buy one.

Who makes the best cars?

Figure out how much you can afford to spend each month on a car payment, gas, maintenance, and insurance. Put that money into a separate savings account. When you want to travel out of town, use that money to rent a car. It will probably cost you less that way.

I am a professional driver by occupation and have kids that age also I drive my work vehicle so much I rarely have time to enjoy my mustang. I do recommend that you get 4cyl or small 6 cyl something small not to small like a honda or toyota great on gas very reliable and great 1st cars not hard to handle not too much power for the kids and great resale value.they are also hard to part with.
