You can get a Mustang for that. Not sporty, but there's also the Chrysler Sebring, Toyota Solara, Pontiac G6. Mustang's probably your best bet, though.

convertibles suck. but if ur gonna get one, find a late 90's model. like a vw bug or any v6 mustang. the insurance will be high and not worth it.but good luck

No. Youll probably kill yourself. Get a safe car for your first car. If you really insist i would get an 300zx, mustang etc. Volvo if you wanna go safe. Again, I wouldn't reccomend anything fast.

1996 (or so) Celica GT. Nice car, reliable, sporty... stay away from girly cars like the Eclipse (you will be tempted by the lower price but it will be a mistake, trust me, I hated my Eclipse).

Mazda Miata... personally not a big fan cause it's too much of a chic car but it would be in your price range and they are much more reliable than the Eclipse.

You could also go for something a little older and get a late 80s or early 90s BMW. Again, reliable, quick... my parents had an '84 530 with 250,000 miles on it that would kick my Supra's @ss in a race!

Other option would be a Mustang, which I also don't recommend but that is just a personal dislike for Ford. Too many problems that I've heard of.
