Check your state's Dept of Transportation web site. They should have a listing of what used car dealers have to divulge. In New York we don't have to list prior ownership of vehicles. However if you asked and were lied to that's another story no matter what the laws are. Most rental cars are kept for a short time by the companies and are still very good vehicles. If you purchases it recently and are not happy with the history ask the dealer to take it back and sell you one you are happier with. And ask for a Carfax report on the next one.
