Question:
I was checking out the new Mitsubishi Eclipse yesterday, and noticed all of them have the SOHC (Single Overhead Camshaft) engines. Though I was under the impression DOHC was the better one.
What is better as far performance DOHC or SOHC?

What are some of the things to look for when buying a used car?
Different cam configurations do not necessarily have a direct impact on how much horsepower an engine makes.I want to buy a new car but i want my company to buy it for me how can i do?
The most powerful piston engines on the planet don't even use overhead cams - they use one camshaft with pushrods and rocker arms. Check out a rail dragster hemi engine, based on the Chrysler hemi design from the 1950's sometime - 2-valves per cylinder, 1 cam with pushrods and they make over 6000 horsepower.
Want to sell my car, but i'm still making payments.?
The theory behind using two overhead cams is to eliminate rocker arms altogether by placing the cams directly over the valves. This reduces valvetrain mass, valve float and inaccuracy and increases performance.

The disadvantage to having two overhead cams is additional rotating weight, usually a taller & wider head, more expense to build and more overall weight. Today, I believe most manufacturer's use them primarily as a sales tool, since the buying public see DOHC as "better" than SOHC. DOHC is different - not necessarily better.
