Question:
The first time I walk in (yes I am in the market), I want to strictly look over the car, test drive it, form an opinion of it and possibly come back the next day to purchase it. My question is, do you think that saying, "I want to test drive this car and that's it today, pressure me and I'm out" is sufficient motivation for the salesperson to do what you'll say, or will they pressure you anyway? What should you say if they do? What if you think that you still want the car?

Is this a scam From: "Lottery Award Promotion"?
As a retail person here's the mind set:A customer comes into a store he/she is looking to buy something. Since I am a salesman, its my job to find out what they want and to sell it to them.
Automobile salesman are usually commissioned staff. Meaning they ONLY make money if you buy. No sale, no paycheck. Since your there, your looking to buy.
What do you check for when buying a used car?
Salesman always get the " I'm just looking" speech. One thing that could help would be to let them know what models you want to check out and test drive. Then when you are ready to buy, go back to the salesman you were working with and buy from him/her.
Is a verbal agreement binding when buying a car?
Salesmen will ALWAYS pressure you. They know people change their minds when they sleep on it so they want you to buy right then and there.Even when you tell them upfront that you're not going to buy, salesmen see that as a challenge and will keep pressuring you. They will tell you BS like how their "special price" is only good that day...
How do I transfer my car loan to someone else and have them take over the payments?
I've had this one salesman who refused to go check inventory for color/option that I wanted because I had told him I wasn't buying that day. But after I convinced him to go check... I got in my car and left. Hahahahahahahahaha!
How much money do I need to buy used car? ? ?
Dont be afraid to hurt their feelings.Tell them you are thinking of a , b and c models, and you just want to test drive.
Keep my current car or buy new one?
By the way...if you are a memeber of a credit union, have them set you up with a loan, or at least prequalify you to see how much money they will loan you, and at what rates.you dont want to finance throught the dlr, they will rip you off
The sales person may still pressure you, and if you are serious about your "threat", you should walk away. Unless you are in a real small town, there should be another dealership that sells the same cars close by. Go there.
How much is a Lotus car? 2007? 2006?
If the salesperson is somewhat intelligent and has some idea of reality, your wishes will be respected. However, there is so much pressure on these people to sell cars, I wouldn't count on anything. I bought two new cars in two years from the same dealer, same salesperson. I started the deal via the Internet so when I went to the dealer, the sales person already knew what I wanted and I already knew the best price. I also knew that the car I wanted was in stock. That's a good point to elaborate on. The dealers want to sell what's on the lot and if they don't have what you want, don't settle. Make them get the car you want, equipped the way you want.If you feel pressured, just walk away. You can tell them anything. You'll think about it. You have to discuss it with your spouse, partner, whatever. Or just tell them that you don't think the deal is the best they can do for you. The longer you spend in the showroom, the better their chances of selling you a car, maybe not the one you want. Be polite but be direct.
The salesmen are still going to preasue you to buy. They only make money when you buy. Just keep telling them you are looking only and they have no problem letting you test drive several cars. Just remember you are in control because they want your money.
Can some one run a car fax for me?
Unfortunately, they have heard every possible excuse, just like we've heard every possible story.I deal with complete honesty from the get-go. I tell them what I expect of THEM, what I will NOT tolerate of them, as if they were a child. If you lead the speech, YOU are in control, and not place myself in a situation that allows them to ask many questions to sum me up.

Has anyone heard of roneki shipping?
One way I test drive vehicles without the pressure, is first going to CarMax online, seeing if they have the vehicle I'm looking for (or a friends). We test drive without pressure, and we are happy, then maybe use Autobytel.com or Carsdirect.com and buy it over the phone. 9 times out of 10, I would say over the phone transactions have been quite easy.
Where is the best place to go to finace a used car ?
Having friends in the business, their stance is, if the person is contacting us, it's because they are 90% interested, and instead of spending 2 hours dickering back and fourth with papers, we get them a good solid price and move on. Sometimes on the phone, they'll call back and ask "Well we dont have the grey that you want, but we have a black one" you can use that and say "Well I dont like black"...they might say "We'll chop off an extra $800 then, we have it in stock and we just want it out"...(and even if you lied to them and told them you didnt like black and your OK with it)...then it works to your benefit.
Ironically, just 2 weeks ago I went looking at a Rav-4, and the salesperson tells me "Well these vehicles have absolutely no rebate, we can't discount them because they sell well"...and we were just walking TO the vehicle. Then once there, he repeats the same thing again BEFORE getting into the vehicle. Needless to say, if he was adament, then he didn't need my business. The worse part is, I go to another Toyota dealership and was welcomed with the same cockiness..."We dont discount our vehicles". Needless to say, No my friend never got her Rav4.
