a good car would probably be an early car. between 70's and early 90's. this is just my opinion. but most of them have steel bodys and wont break down to much if well kept. im only 15 but i know cars. most arent the best on gas but if thier only 16 then they wont need to be driving far other then school...hope this helpsTake the school bus! No car till out of High School.
If you are really going to get your kid a car for their 16th birthday whether they be boy or girl. Your gonna want something safe. That goes without saying you could opt for a older car that is made out of steel and aluminum, or you could go for a newer car like a Saturn or Kia or any other import. You could go to consumer reports on the web and check the safety ratings on any of the cars you are considering they will most likely also have gas mileage ratings on the cars too. You should also be able to find front and side impact ratings on the cars as well. In all reality though your kid should drive for a while before they get a car of their own. This way they will have some experience under their belt...if you think about it a vehicle is a 1 ton weapon in the wrong hands.
