What car should i have as my first?

Question:
i am soon to be taking up driving lessons, and once having completed them i wondered what car would be; most reliable cost efficient and of overall use to me.

i am looking for a 1965 ford that we built 14years ago and it was for sale?

can you help in suggesting one?

Answers:

how much do you think it is worth?

The first thing you've got to think about when getting a first car is the Insurance, and how much it will cost........ when you've passed your test & bought your first car, it'll cost a small fortune for anything larger than a secondhand base model HONDA CIVIC hatchback (and similar sized cars)..... after a few years, providing you don't hit anything (or something else hits your car), it'll come down cheap enough to afford a proper car (e.g. Mustang, used Firebird, etc).

which car should i get?

So, before buying..... shortlist a few cars you like the look of in the classified adverts, then get some insurance quotes for them.... but when shortlisting them also try to take into account things you'll be using it for, like if you go fishing, is it big enough to get your gear in, etc
Take a look and see what you can find at

How can I sell Lojack effectively?

Despite what an earlier answerer said, an older car will be more cost effective than a new one....... and will be perfectly reliable as long as you maintain it properly - check oil / brake fluid / lights, etc at least once a week....... change the oil, spark plugs, belts at the specified service intervals...... have the ignition checked over at the same time, to make sure it's set-up properly at the sametime.

That leaves Japanese cars. They are the most reliable, the cheapest, the most fun to tune up if you decide to. They have the best resale value and they are usually the best designed.

Go new if you can, older cars will just break down and cause traffic backup messes. Then the same junker will break down on you again a week later. 2nd tow. More cash out of your pocket.

what kind of SUV's have gps systems?

As your first car, it is likely you will probably have an accident or 2 in it. The jap cars definatly hold up better but they will cost more. The average firt car isin't going to be kept for more than a few years ( it is your trial run ). depending on your buget, the domestics are more economical (cheeper) to start with and some of the imports have high dollar maintenance repairs that are required...Timing belts avg $450-600. If you ignore them and they break many models will easily cost over $1200 to repair. Really the most important thing to remember is to find something you like enough to drive but stay away from your dream car for now. Always, Always, Always..get a prepurchase inspection. This may cost $100 but can easily save thousands. I have seen to many people buy a car they liked and then find out it needs tons of work or required maintenance (they always get rid of there old car for a reason). The best place for an inspection would be an independant shop whith a good reputation. If you don't know one call a few independant auto parts stores or NAPA. The people at most pepboys, advance or autozones are not good references. (they sell cheap(low quality)parts to the people who use them). If nothing else most of the independant goodyear stores have some good techs. The main cars to try to avoid are chrysler cars, mitisubisi, anything european (MB-BMW-VW) and suburu. Keep in mind most anything used that you get will need repairs. The prepurchase inspection will give you an idea of what you will need to spend after you buy. good luck
