Trade in value for Mercedes..?

Question:
I went to a Honda dealership to get a civic today and was hoping to trade in my 2006 Mercedes C-230. It's got less than 15K miles, navigation system,CD changer, alloy wheels, leather interior, etc. It was blue booked for it's trade in value at a little over 25K, which is about what is owed on it. When we took it to the ddealership they offered us 20K for it. He said that is generally what a dealership will give you for the car for trade in. I was expecting around 26K, is 20K really all I should expect from it from a dealer?

Our black book, which almost all southwest region dealers bid out of, puts your car at $24250, granted it has leather and an automatic transmission, and has a clean title and no paintwork.

Manheim auctions, the largest auction company in the US shows your car selling at auction the past week at $24,300 nationally.

Does anyone want to sell a moped in bury?

Kelley is often not accurate with the true market books like Black Book because Kelly is updated every 2 months. The true market books like Black Book are reprinted every week for autos and trucks, and 2 weeks for SUV's. So it's common to have a difference between KBB and actual cash value (trade value). But in this case, it's very close.

Reccomendations for a car...I want a four door sedan with 6 cylinders, maybe a 2000 model?

That being said, sounds like the Honda dealer is not very interested in your trade. Not surprising since Honda and Toyota dealers make a living selling new cars and tend to be the weakest of buyers on pre-owned vehicles outside of their own product lines.

What minimum percentage of a car's price would you recommend for a down payment?

YES they need to sell it to make a profit. Plus it's a HONDA dealership, you have a mercedes. Sell it privately and keep making payments, or go to a mercedes dealership and get maybe 2k more on that value.

where or how can i sell a broken down car that no longer runs?

i agree with jake. it is a honda dealership so eventually they are going to pay it off and sell it to a used car dealer that carries mercedes. they give you less than book value for the car and use the rest of the money as their own compensation for taking it off your hands. if trade in value is 25, you shouldn't take less than 20 but if you shop around you might get 22 or 23...just not what it is really worth. if you haven't paid it off, trade-in is your best bet.

what is the lowest price for a '07 corolla?

i'd tell that dealership to kiss my ****. your trade in value is or should be around 25k, but it is normal for dealerships to price it down since you still owe on it. ask yourself "do i really need a newer car that bad?"

Where can i find a 2007 Ford Shelby GT500?

I ran your details through Kelly Blue Book myself and it also came up with a trade-in value of just under 25K and a private party value of about 27K and retail value of 29K. In the many years I've been buying and selling cars my equation has always been that the true "value" of a vehicle is a private party price ... or the midpoint between trade-in and retail. Traditionally, a dealer would give you trade in price and turn around an sell it for retail price, so my educated opinion is that the mid-point is what I should target to get for any car I sell or buy ... if you CAN get to that midpoint you'll be making a very good deal.

where can i get a pink quad?

In your circumstances, is 20K what you could expect a Honda dealer to offer? Yeah ... probably ... after all car dealers are all about profit ... BUT does that mean you have to accept it? Absolutely not. Follow me here .... the reason the Honda dealer is low balling you and offering you only 20K is because the car you're selling is a high end expensive car and they are a Honda dealer. Few people are going to walk on to a Honda lot looking to buy an expensive Mercedes for $30grand USED ...ESPECIALLY in Winter. So one of two things will happen ... 1. they will end up having to sell it on auction or at a deep deep discount to a Mercedes or other high end dealership just to move it off their lot or 2. they will have to set the selling price so low ... lower than typical blue book maybe $22 - $23K such that they can quickly sell it to the guy who just happens to stumble on to it on their lot. So, that's what they are thinking ... about their profit margin.

Hyundai Sonata or Kia Rio?

Now do you have to take that offer? Nope ... shop it around a bit. If you have your heart set on a civic, visit a 1/2 dozen Honda Dealers (preferably in medium to large cities) and see if you can find one that will get you closer to trade-in. You probably won't find any Honda dealer that will give you $25 K or more for it ... especially this time of year ... but if you could get $23 or $24 that's certainly better than $20K. Keep in mind that the Dealerships aren't selling a lot of new cars right now either ... so if you shop around a bit and let them know you're not just going to take whatever low ball price they throw at you and that you're willing to go to the dealer the next street over ... you'll find someone to give you a decent price.

is it possible to lease a used car?

If you truly want the $26K ... you'll almost certainly have to sell it yourself either on-line or in the newspaper ... and you'll probably have to wait until Spring or Summer for it to sell. If you can wait that long ... go for it ... otherwise, you'll probably have to drop your expectations a little bit ... but don't "give" it away either.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any used car dealers that purchased used vehicles in Fayetteville, NC .?

blue book value on 94 Chevy blazer?

to arrive at a price for a trade the Mgr has several tools to work with, Dealer Auction sheets for vehicles that sold previous and he will most likely find same type with about same miles to arrive at a price, its only common sense he cant pay more unless the vehicle your buying shows gross profit that allows him to put more in your trade.

Where do I find used cars from private partys on the internet in California?

If its a vehicle dealership dont want in inventory, the Mgr has also got access to several wholesalers to get bids and at same can phone several Mercedes dealers to get bids from the used car Mgr's if they are interested. The Mgr at the Honda dealership will maximize your trade in order to sell you a car, but he will not pay you more than what its worth.
