Anyone have good experience with Hyundai Elantras? Looking at buying a 2001...?
At first, i would have said no, but after doing a quick search to determine what the common problems are, its not that bad of a vehicle (compared to other brands)...its no toyota though. The common problems:
Climate Control console needs replaced
automatic transmission-Torque converter failure
Front brake problems-(unsure what needs to be fixed).
CD player-ERR -needs replaced
Rear End needs rebuilt often (common for All Jeeps)
There was only 1 recall on it for the ckps.
Maintenance costs are about normal
A/C Compressor-$555
Alternator-$340
Automatic Transmission or Transaxle-$1,125
Brakes-$490
Constant Velocity Joints-$1,405
Exhaust System-$405
Radiator-$620
Shocks and/or Struts-$1,240
Timing Chain or Belt-$400

**EDIT**
For the other posters: it is a 'Limited' that means it has rear wheel drive, not 4x.
Another VIN check please people!?
Jeeps suck. Total money pits dude. You can find way better. especially if it has 98 thousand miles.Do you know anyone that wreck their car and they use all their savings just to buy it?
Sounds like a good deal. I would have it checked out though and make sure that nothing is going wrong with it...4X4, trans. you know the major things that cost to get them fixed, you can also try some web-sites to check...Vehix.com,and i am sure there are a ton of others.Big question here is if the car is 4x4 and what condition it is in. Does it require or work? Did the previous owner keep up on the maintenance? Does it look physically like it's been abused. If you want to check what the fair value based on zip code, options, and mileage you have a few sites www.kbb.com, www.edmunds.com, www.nada.com. Check them out input the information and it will give you the dollar value
UPDATE
Limited's also come in 4x4+
Does anyone know where to search old VIN numbers?
