I just want to suggest that when you do get the carfax report you don't take it too seriously. They lack ALOT of information. If you find something negative, ok that's fine, don't buy the car. But the absence of negative information does not mean that something bad has not happened to the vehicle, but just wasn't reported.I would take their information very lightly when buying a vehicle.

And no, I don't know what else you can use similar to carfax but for free. You could call the dealership to see if they have any history on that vehicle, you can also call your state DMV for information on previous owners.
