before hand and everything came up fine. But when I went to go register it at the dmv, they said there was a hold on the title and they would start an investigation. Well that was 4 months ago, and after many countless attemps at going back and fishing for answers, they still won't give me any. I've also called back the seller countless times in which he promises to meet me at a later date with the money to buy back the car, he still has not! The car has no plates and there for is undriveable and my only means of transportation. Plus the plates he gave me with the car I later found out were registered to a compleately different car.Do I have any rights or do I have to cut my losses?? Can I sue this guy? I'm sick of his games. And why won't the dmv give me any answers? PLEASE HELP ME!

OF COURSE YOU HAVE RIGHTS! I disagree with stephan though...don't report him to the police because I don't really think they can do anything. He really hasn't comitted a crime so to speak. I would get a lawyer. Someone that know the laws in regards to car buying. Have the lawyer write letters to the previous owner and the DMV. Usually when people see letters from attorneys they get their act together. If there is still a problem after that, the lawyer can help you out with the next steps.In the U.K how can i sell my car if i have't received my registration document yet?
Honestly, in my opinion, it sounds like you've been pretty proactive in trying to get this resloved. I think it's time to get some professional help.

I would first report this guy to the police, and get all your documents from emails he sent, his postings, letter from DMV, police report then sue the daylights out of him. Remember to get him for wasting your time.

First of all, when you purchase a car, you NEVER get plates with them. You have to get your own when you register the car. Go to small claims court and take this joker to court!More Questions & Answers ...
