Dealers need to keep a copy of your license to check your credit, and if you drive the car on a test drive.
What is a good car for 10- 15k and its for a girl whos used to nice things?
If you decide not to buy the car from them, you can request them to destroy it or return it to you. But they do it every day, and if there was a SINGLE problem, it would have been reported by now. There is more risk in giving your credit card to a waiter.. (in my opinion)

I used to work for a dealer. They are not legally allowed to use your driver's license for information. They only take it if you are test-driving, or actually filling out the purchase paperwork. But once you give them your phone number, beware...they will be calling you until you tell them whether or not you want the car.I want 2 buy diesel car till 6 lacs pls give me some options ...?
...And also, dealers do need to make a copy of your license for insurance purposes.
The only thing you have to worry about is if you let them run your credit. I never let them run my credit until I have the price I want and am positive that I am going to get the car. See, every time there is an inquiry on your credit it is called a "hit." Hits drop your credit score, like every time your at a store and they ask you to fill out an application for 15% off, even if you don't get approved its a hit on you credit information and your score just dropped. I hate it.
What do you think about the infiniti m45 or the mercedes e320?
The one thing that can go wrong is identity theft. Once they have your info and if your license happens to have your social security number on it then who knows where that info can end up at. If the people there are clean then hopefully nothing will happen. If the workers there are shady they might make a copy of the info and sell it or try to do something with it?More Questions & Answers ...
