Question:
Back in november I bought my first car from a guy on craigslist. I didn't know at the time, though, that I had to fill out a bill of sale. Something fishy was that the title was not under his name. It was under someone else's name but was just signed off. Supposedly he recently got the car from someone else who gave it to him as a payment for a Mercedes or something. So anyway I went to the DMV the next day to transfer the title and registration, but all I could do was pay the fees and get a temporary operating permit until I turned in the bill of sale. For the next week or so I tried getting a hold of the previous owner to get his signature but had no luck. At first his wife would say he was still at work, but after about a week the phone was disconnected. I have no way of getting a hold of this guy and I don't remember where he lives. My operating permit expired a few days ago and now I don't know what to do. I just hope I wasn't scammed or some crap like that. What would you do??

Get his last known address and mail a registered letter to that address, then when it comes back do not open the letter but take it as proof to DMV that you can not contact this person and they will take the letter and issue you a title...or contact the individual on the title with his address and have him sign a form at DMV.call DMV and explain your situation and they will give you the steps to take to get the car legal. What is the best used car to purchase for the least amount of money?
